on my mind

I'm so busy these days, I feel guilty spending time reading the bloglines, or writing this even. I still do it though. But once again I find myself thinking of stopping (roll eyes) even though I know I won't. I was reading some of my old posts last night and came across the one where I first said I was going to stop (Dec 31st, 2007), now I have vowed to never say I'm going to again.

I go through reading other's posts and get ideas for my own, but by the time I get around to writing it, meh, I lose interest, or have other thoughts enter my head. I have a half dozen partial posts written, that I keep dragging to the top of my edit posts list... One or two will see the light of day soon.

My house is back on the market, turns out the Chinese man wanted to rent it not for himself, but for the cooks and wait staff of his new restaurant. I told him no thanks. The other things that bothered me were how he and his daughter would talk to each other in their native language when I'd ask them questions (I think that is rude, and she was a bit rude herself in how she talked to me), and the fact they asked no fewer than five times in two visits that the washer and dryer were included... I'm thinking they planned to use them to wash the restaurant's linens everyday... So now hopefully I'll find a nice family that actually wants to live there, and if not I may just put it on the market and sell it next year.

But now that I'm finished with my house, I'm been busy with Terry's, I just spent yesterday putting up railing on the back deck (the insurance company required it), and last week had five and a half tons of gravel delivered to fill up a space along side of the single car driveway where a carport will be installed next month. Surprisingly it wasn't that hard to spread the gravel out...
Next I have to clean out and remove a bunch of old shit in the garage from previous owners/renters in preparation to have an old wood stove chimney removed. We're having a new roof installed in ten days, and they're going to tear down the brick chimney to the roof line, and then I'll take out the rest of it inside the garage. Should be a blast I'm sure, esp with the amount of soot that's already fallen out if it...

I'm also looking forward (not) to the two huge maple trees in the front yard to shed their leaves, with lows in the mid 20's later this week it won't be long. I think of them as ticking leaf bombs...

I'm a bit discouraged with my job right now. Last month I had stellar sales, and will have a commission check that will pay for over a third of the roofing job, but now the manager hired a fourth employee that I and my co-worker both agree was premature. We just don't have enough business yet to support it, and Saturday the manager was fretting all day about having four guys sitting around with no customers most of the time (and asking if we wanted to go home early). I'm seriously wondering if I'll make my minimum sales quota this month, it's that bad so far. And I imagine the district manager is going to be looking at the numbers and wondering why our manager hired the new guy...

Well this isn't what I had planned to write about today, but oh well. Maybe I'll go finish one of those other posts. Just as soon as I finish some laundry and dishes before heading to work.

Hope everyone is having a nice fall, or spring in the case of my Aussie friends.

Oh and my friend Gillette put this on her blog, and I have to share it too. She dared her readers not to smile when they watched it, such a sucker bet... I would love to participate in one of these group dances some day. Enjoy.

Wow, you dodged a bullet with that attempted restaurant worker rental!

Yep, I did. At least they were honest up front about it, and I didn't find out later. You should have seen the looks on the faces of my friends and co-workers when I would tell them about it.

Fusion! Long time no visit...sorry I've been so out of touch. Trying to catch up on what I've missed, it might take me forever, but it's great to see that you and Terry are still going strong.
Missed you!

Well, I have to say, Fuse, there are times when I really miss my blog - when the good and not-so-good little things happen. However, I still feel that I haven't got enough input to keep anyone else entertained so I just keep it to myself. The thing I miss, of course, is the contact with my blog friends out there. So I'd say keep it open, however infrequently you write. People like me love to drop in occasionally to see how you are.

So glad you escaped the restaurant people's little tricks in time. I'm with you on all the house maintenance stuff - and the joys of shedding leaves!
